How to Make Your Own Pumpkin Spice Latte
While some watch for changing tree leaves and cooler evenings as signs of autumn, others know fall by three words: pumpkin spice latte.
Sure it’s nice to pop out to your local coffee shop to grab a “PSL” every now and then, but it can also be a snap to make at home. Our recipe below suggests ingredient amounts that you can increase or decrease depending on preference for this pumpkin latte recipe.
Pumpkin Spice Latte

1 Serving
- 1 cup milk
- ½ to 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice depending on preference
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon vanilla extract depending on preference
- ¼ cup brewed espresso or strong coffee
- 1 Tablespoon white sugar
- 1 Tablespoon pumpkin puree
- Whipped cream
Whisk the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice in a small saucepan over low heat for a minute. Whisk in the milk, sugar and vanilla extract. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Pour the mixture through a fine sieve, then return the milk to the saucepan. Whisk while it simmers for two minutes. Add the espresso or coffee and whisk another minute until it’s foamy. Top with whipped cream.
Tips & Tricks
Not sure what to do with the extra pumpkin? Measure it out by the tablespoonful and freeze on parchment paper. Once frozen, remove them from the paper and store them in a zipper top bag in the freezer. That way they’ll be ready when you are!

- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
